Ah, campaign season!! Once again we enter the magic time where political junkies like myself (who were following candidates for months) get all hopped up about the shoddy coverage being given to the races. The culprits are many--big media, flacks, hacks, spinmeisters--but sadly the biggest culprits may just be ourselves.

In a 'Bread and Circuses' world such as ours, folks just don't give a hoot much of the time. While dorks like me have been agonizing about candidates and positions for months most people it would seem just want the down-and-dirty quick version of it. Who's winning?! Is Dean the MAN? Oops, no sorry, he sucks this week now that St. John of Kerry has been annointed.

The complaint is made that average folks just don't have enough time, but if we did have more free time (whatever happened to the 35 hr work week in the US of A, huh?) would that just mean five more hours of American Idol or internet porn sites? I'd like to think not, but the verdict is still out on that one.
